In an innovative project, the Municipality of Pinhais, in collaboration with various entities, launched the 'Final Stop' program to combat harassment and sexual harassment on municipal public transportation. The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Departments of Social Assistance, Government and Security and Transit, along with the Metropolitan Affairs Agency of Paraná (Amep) and the State Secretariat for Women, Racial Equality, and the Elderly (Semipi-PR).
The program will offer an accessible reporting channel through an online form, provided via QR Code on posters inside the buses, as well as through the '153 Cidadão' app. This system will allow victims to report harassment in real time, interacting with municipal guards who will investigate and respond in person when necessary.
Mayor Rosa Maria of Pinhais emphasized the partnership between all entities for the implementation of the program. 'We have been working very hard, with public policies in all areas, always caring for women, who need to have autonomy, all productive inclusions, so that they no longer need to submit to any type of violence. This moment was very appropriate, as we are working on the 21 days of activism to end violence against women, because they need to live in a safer place. This issue concerns each one of us,' she declared.
Representing the Secretary of Women, Racial Equality, and Elderly People, Leandre Dalponte, the Director of Public Policies for Women, Mariana de Souza Machado Neris, highlighted Pinhais' pioneering role. 'I am glad that there is mobilization around this. The effect of this campaign can be preventive, it can deter the harasser. We will have the opportunity for women to feel freer to come and go, more security to leave home, to study, to work, knowing that public transportation is a safe place. We will promote Pinhais' successful experience because we understand the positive effect it has on society, because we all win when we have an environment of peace,' she concluded.
For Amep's president, Gilson Santos, Ponto Final represents a crucial tool for public transportation users. 'With great joy, we received this proposal, it's another instrument for us to expand access to reports and information, so that a safe environment can really be created, as we always hope in our daily lives, especially in public transportation. Pinhais has the privilege of having one of the terminals that is a reference not only for the metropolitan region but also for the entire state of Paraná because it works very well, so we celebrate this additional achievement for the municipality,' he emphasized.
